Tiny Homes, here we come! The next two weekends we are lucky enough to be headed to a couple of tiny house tours. This coming weekend (April 1st) my husband and I are headed to the Tiny Home Festival that is being held by the St. Pete Eco Village in St. Petersburg Florida. The following weekend (April 8-9) we will be in Portland Oregon for the Tiny House Conference!
Living in the Tampa Bay area, the St. Pete Eco Village is just a few minutes away and I’m very excited to see it. From the map it appears to be right in the middle of the city which is interesting on its own. From the website it looks like they have small housing opportunities, room for RV’s and camping, a place to construct tiny homes, gardening, yoga, volunteer opportunities and even chickens. All of this in the heart of the city? I can’t wait!
Next up is the big daddy of them all ~ the Tiny House Conference. This year will be our first year to attend as well as our first trip to Portland! There, we will have the opportunity to tour 10+ tiny homes, hear from some amazing speakers and register for the “track” of your choice. The tracks have different themes; finding land, designing your home, building basics, advanced building, building codes, even downsizing for your adventure. The conference is pricey so I hope to get a lot of great information while I’m there. I’ll also be posting from the conference and will let you know what everyone’s talking about there. The HGTV show Tiny Luxury folks from HGTV are in Portland I think. Wonder if they will be there…I’ll be looking for you Tyson & Michelle!
Overall, my main goal is to tour several tiny homes and be able to learn about their unique design, features and visit with the builders. After that I want to learn as much as I can about downsizing and living with less, as well as how the actual home design lends to being comfortable in a tiny home. Stay tuned for details and pics and see if there is a tiny house tour near you!
